The Project

North Korea in the World is a joint project of the East-West Center (EWC) and the National Committee on North Korea (NCNK). It was created to provide researchers, policymakers, journalists, and the general public with easily-accessible information on the external diplomatic and economic relations of North Korea (formally known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or DPRK). The project aims to collect data from across a wide variety of sources, and to provide context to help its users better understand this data.

The North Korea in the World database will be updated as new information becomes available, and will periodically incorporate new features and datasets. We encourage readers with any questions or comments on the project to contact us with their inquiries.

NCNK and EWC would like to give special thanks to our North Korea in the World contributors, including Daniel Wertz, Esther Im and Jerry Ji.
